It’s 2022… And the Frota Academy is celebrating its 20th birthday!
We couldn’t be more grateful for you – our amazing students – who’ve been a part of this amazing journey. To know that you’re training and developing your martial arts skills with us, that you’re making great friendships on the mats… It all makes us very happy.
We want you to know just how much we appreciate you. So, during this year we’re hosting a number of premium seminars with elite-level athletes – free of charge for all Frota Academy students!

Felipe Pena “Preguiça”: January 24-25
Felipe “Preguiça” Pena is a multiple-time IBJJF World Champion (both in his division and in the absolute) and an ADCC title winner; as well as a Copa Pódio’s Heavyweight GP, Brazilian Nationals (Brasileiro), and Abu Dhabi Pro champion.
Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida: January 29
Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida is one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes of all time – with 13 black belt world titles and 2 ADCC championship titles to his name. He is now also a successful MMA fighter, competing in the ONE Championship.
Thalison Soares: February 24-27
Thalison Soares is known as the world’s most successful BJJ colored belt of all time – a skill that he brought more then well into his black belt career, by becoming (among other things), an IBJJF No-Gi World Champion and an IBJJF Pan Pac Champion.
Fabricio Andrey: March 18-22
Fabricio Andrey is a BJJ black belt under Melqui Galvão, who also worked extensively with coaches Michael Langhi, Fábio Gurgel, and Isaque Bahiense. He is an IBJJF World Champion, as well as a multiple-time AJP Grand Slam title winner.
Davi Ramos: April 2 and 7
Davi Ramos is a Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran and one of the most accomplished grapplers of his generation. Among his many titles, Ramos has been an ADCC and CBJJ Brazilian Nationals (No-Gi) champion, as well as an ACBJJ Grand Prix and Grapplers Quest Las Vegas title winner.
Renzo Gracie: June 4-5
Renzo Gracie is a BJJ and MMA legend. As a coach, he produced several renowned black belts, but primarily excelled as a competitor in the 1990’s – winning important tournaments such as the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) and several MMA fights in Japan, Brazil and US.
Leandro Lo: July 9-10
Leandro Lo is one of the most accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes to have ever competed in the gi – he is a record holder for most IBJJF World titles in different weight classes (5): light, middle, medium-heavy, heavy and open weight.
Minotauro Nogueira:TBA 7-8
Minotauro Nogueira is an MMA legend. He’s one of Brazil’s most successful mixed martial arts fighters of all time – as he was the first Pride heavyweight champion, a PRIDE FC Heavyweight Grand Prix finalist, and a former Interim UFC Heavyweight champion.
