Grappling is a combat sport that doesn’t include neither striking nor kicking. Its techniques are practiced in various martial arts and can be broadly divided into the following categories: clinch fighting, takedowns and throws, submission holds, pin/control techniques, sweeps, reversals, turnovers, and escapes.
Therefore, grappling refers to the techniques, maneuvers, and counters applied against an opponent in order to gain a physical advantage; for example, escaping away from the opponent or submitting him/her.

At Frota Academy, the grappling classes are designed both for those who have never grappled before and the professional fightes. Our instructors, who have invested decades of their lives into competing and coaching, will navigate you towards your grappling success – no matter if it means just being able to defend yourself, to train as a hobby, or to become a professional.
