UNIFORM ETIQUETTE

Uniform etiquette – men

If you want to train BJJ and/or grappling at the Frota Academy, then there are a couple of simple rules that you have to follow as a man.

Under the gi and gi pants: men are allowed to train without a rashguard underneath the gi.
However, it’s forbidden for men to train with a plain T-Shirt and/or with a tanktop underneath the gi – as can be seen on the pictures to the right.

Men have to train with Box underwear, compression shorts or leggings.
The leggings need to be from the Frota Academy. Otherwise, they can be in plain white or black color, without a logo.

Gi: the gi itself has to be from the Frota Academy. Students cannot train in any other gi, except the Academy’s official one.

No-gi: the students are allowed to wear only the Frota Academy’s official rashguard – as can be seen on the image on your right.
If your rashguard isn’t the official Frota Academy one, then any completely all black or all white rashguards without a logo will do.

Also, the Frota Academy students can only wear shorts and spats from the Academy itself (photo on the right). However, if you don’t have them just yet, then wearing any black or white spats and shorts without a logo will do the trick.

Uniform etiquette – women

As a lady who trains BJJ and/or grappling at the Frota Academy, then you’ll have to follow through some simple rules in regards to your uniform.
Under the gi and gi pants: women are allowed to wear a rashguard underneath the gi or an appropriate fitness top. This means that the top cannot be from light material, but rather has to be from a strong one – such is the case with sport bras – so that the material doesn’t break.
The images on the right demonstrate the good and the bad bra options.

Similar thing goes for underwear. Sturdier ones are necessary.

Women have to train with compression shorts or leggings as well.
The leggings need to be from the Frota Academy. Otherwise, they can be in plain white or black color, without a logo.
