Roger Gracie: The Submission Master

Roger Gracie is one of the most successful Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes ever.

He has won ten world championships and is known for always going for the submission.
Coming from the famous Gracie family, Roger’s career is filled with amazing achievements.

Roger won world championships in different weight classes from 2004 to 2010 and was the first to win the open weight division three times.
He also excelled in the ADCC, where he won gold in both his weight class and the open weight division – all by submission.

Roger also had a successful MMA career, winning the ONE Light Heavyweight Championship and finishing with a record of 8-2 before retiring in 2017.

Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida: The Record Breaker

Marcus Almeida, known as “Buchecha”, is another Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu icon.

He has won 13 world championships and is considered one of the best ever.
He even broke the record for the most IBJJF World Championship open weight titles, surpassing Roger Gracie.

Buchecha is a key member of the Checkmat academy and is in the IBJJF Hall of Fame, and has won ADCC titles as well.

In 2020, Buchecha started competing in MMA, fighting in the Heavyweight division of ONE Championship, where he continues to dominate in his division.

A Historic Rivalry

The rivalry between Roger Gracie and Marcus Buchecha is among the most exciting ones in history of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

They have faced each other twice: once at Metamoris in 2012, which ended in a draw, and again at Gracie Pro in 2017, where Roger won by submission.

Despite their rivalry, they respect each other greatly, making this seminar a special event where they will share their best techniques and insights.
