STATEMENT

BJJ is a sport that should be trained by much more people. Not necessarily because of the techniques (throws and submissions), but also because BJJ creates a solid foundation for body awareness and motor activity – which can increase everyone’s quality of life. In the short time that I had the chance to teach our students, I realized that a lot of people have problems with their body awareness. So, by training Jiu-Jitsu, you learn to understand your body better; with each training making you feel a little bit better than you felt before.

EXPERIENCE IN OTHER MARTIAL ARTS

EXPERIENCE AS TRAINER
I have been training a lot of many different styles.

STATEMENT

Even after so many years of training and coaching BJJ, I still get so happy when I notice how the Frota Team is becoming bigger and bigger. With time, I have learnt that loyalty means so much more than just being a part of the team… Instead, it also means showing respect and being respected, showing empathy and supporting everyone to become the best that they can be.
Our head coach Augusto has instilled those values into all of us as coaches, as well as into our students. So, I try to teach my classes and instill the values into the students in the same way that he does.

EXPERIENCE AS TRAINER
Teaching since purple belt since 2015

STATEMENT

I’ve been teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since I was a purple belt. What I found out was that, if you want to get to know someone like a person, one of the best ways of doing so is bringing them to BJJ… Because Jiu-Jitsu has a great way of casting a light on our true personalities. And that is one of the main reasons why I love Jiu-Jitsu.

STATEMENT

As a coach, I mainly focus on wrestling techniques which I managed to apply successfully in competition. Also, I think it’s important to emphasize that – in my eyes – BJJ is the only martial art which can neutralise and actually beat wrestling techniques on the bottom.

STATEMENT

My father was a teacher his entire life, and so he transferred that love for teaching onto me. When I teach, I always try to find new and more insightful ways to explain a technique, a move, or a concept – an approach which I adapt to the different students that learn Jiu-Jitsu. To their different personalities, different body types, and different levels of physical conditioning.
Thanks to my job, I frequently travel abroad for business. When I do, I always bring a gi with me and try to keep myself active while travelling. Altogether, BJJ has opened up doors for me and, thanks to Professor Augusto Frota, I was always very well-welcomed everywhere I went to. Ultimately, BJJ makes me happy – and I’m blessed to have been given an opportunity to help other people feel that happiness as well.

STATEMENT

One of the most rewarding and motivating things for me as a BJJ coach for kids is seeing our students evolve in positive ways; both on and off the mats. I think that my way of thinking can be summarized in one quote, originally said by Dr. Billy Graham: „One coach will impact more young people in a year than the average person does in a lifetime.“

STATEMENT

I’ve been training martial arts since I was a kid, and today I understand how important they have been for me as I grew up: for my character development, for the way I see the world, and the way I communicate, respect, and emphatize with other people. That’s why it’s been such a fulfilling role for me to be a kids coach at Frota Academy – I like nothing more than seeing young people grow up into responsible, respectful, and kind adults.
