Gilbert Burns is regarded as one of the top grappling lightweights of his generation. He won several Brazilian National Championships and also the World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships (2011). ”Durinho” is a black belt under Rafael “Fofitio” and switched his career focus to mixed martial arts (MMA) to become a UFC-star. The 29-year-old trains now under Vitor Belfort. He was also part of the coaches cast for “Team Belfort” at “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil: Belfort vs. Silva” program in 2012. He signed with the UFC in 2014 and so far he won 10 fights in a row and is 11-1 now, winning 3 out of 4 matches in the UFC. He visits the Frota Academy Zürich from time to time – as he did last month (December 2015).
